A very popular choice for Bonsais, the Trident Maple has made its place in the hearts (and homes!) of people owing to its beautiful appearance, and the ability to withstand harsher climates. Whether it be cold or hot, the Trident Maple stands steadfast, and continues to blossom the way it should – making it the perfect Bonsai for your home.

Also known as “Kaede” in Japanese, it means ‘toad hands’. This is in reference to the webbed, toad-like features of the leaves, which are in the shape of a trident. These shiny green leaves continue to stun throughout the seasons, turning from the lovely green, to hues of yellow, orange and eventually red, upon hitting Autumn. As the green foliage overshadows the trunk of the tree, it gives a very wholesome vibe to the entire area – giving a glimpse of nature in its own bonsai-like miniature form.

The trunk of the Trident Maple sings another tune, with its thick demeanor, and orange-ish brown outlook. Whilst the roots are gnarled and thick, a perfect complement to the characteristics of the tree. The roots however, are in need of moisture, to ensure the leaves remain as fresh as ever. Thus the Trident Maple a bit of care, and frequent watering. Although possessing the ability to withstand harsher weathers, it prefers to be placed in a warm sun. As the rays of the sun peek through the beautiful shades of leaves, the plant gleams in each season, beckoning one to come forth and examine its beauty.

Whether you keep the Trident Maple on your patio, or make a special corner for it inside the house – it is bound to stun all.
